The Executive Secretary National Universities Commission NUC Mr Chris Maiyaki has affirmed that the alleged rape case of sex for grade in the University of Calabar was under investigation.
Mr Maiyaki stated this while speaking with newsmen at Government House Asaba.
He said all acts of intimidation,sexual harassment and unruly behaviours among teaching and non teaching staffs in tertiary institutions will not be tolerated pointing out that anyone found culpable will be punished according to the laws.
He said NUC was committed to correcting ills bedevilling the tertiary education sub sector and advocated for the support of all in restructuring of the nation’s citadel of learning.
On the hike in tuition fees of private Universities,he said the commission had no power to regulate the fees but advised owners of private tertiary institutions to put human face in their charges.
