The Delta State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the nominees whose names were sent to the House by Governor Sheriff Oberevwori for appointment into the Governing Board of the the State Contributory Health Commission.
The House committee dissolved into a committee of the whole and screened Dr Austin Obidi, appointed as Chairman of the Board and Dr Isaac Akpoveta, Director General.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the screening, Dr Austin Obidi described the process as transparent, rigorous and pain staking.

On what he plans to do differently from the past administration, Dr Obidi said the MORE agenda of the Sheriff Oborevwori administration would provide the platform on which to build.
” But above all, the scripture says the path of the just is like a shining light that shines brighter and brighter even into a perfect day, meaning, you build from where they stopped, from glory to glory, from grace to grace” he added.
Dr Isaac Akpoveta who also addressed newsmen after the screening said the Delta State Contributory Health scheme had covered about 25 % of Deltans so far and expressed the hope that 50 – 60% would be covered in the nearest future
“Meaning, the vulnerable in particular, those who live in areas that is difficult to access health, those who don’t have money will get health. The MORE agenda will bring good health.
Dr Akpoveta assured that the new leadership of the commission will ensure that everyone is carried along, as stated in the Universal Health Coverage.
“Everyone, the poor, the rich, the weak, the strong, will all contribute and ensure that the weak, the vulnerable receive good health. That, we promise you” he added.

With the successful screening and confirmation, the Governor of Delta State, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori would swear them in at a later date.
