German champions, Bayern Munich has asked Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy to make a decision by Saturday morning over Kane’s sale, after they increased their bid to a ‘very fair offer’ for the striker, who has one year left on his contract.
Bayern hope to reach agreement with Tottenham for Harry Kane after offering more than £86million.
Bayern gave the deadline as they hope to have Kane in their line-up for next Saturday’s German Super Cup final against RB Leipzig, knowing that the player is willing to accept their challenge and sign a four-year contract worth around £400,000 a week.
The Club want to be sure, to enable them move on to other targets if their bid is unsuccessful.
The ball is now in the court of Levy to decide whether to accept Bayern’s club-record offer of £86.24m plus add-ons, with all parties wanting the situation resolved quickly.
Kane is expected to see out the final year of his contract at Tottenham and leave next summer, if a deal cannot be agreed,
Bayern have discussed returning for Kane in January to sign him for a reduced fee or on a pre-contract for next summer.
Technical director Marco Neppe has been a key figure throughout the negotiations, having met Kane and his family, and travelled with chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen for talks in London with Levy.
He believes Kane is committed to the Bayern project and, with boss Thomas Tuchel’s blessing, is prepared to try again next year if Levy turns them down.
Tottenham have lined up Argentina Under 20 striker Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central and want Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson as they prepare for Kane’s departure. They also expect to sign Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven for £43million.
