Officials of the country’s contingent to the seventh Commonwealth Youth Games, which begin today in Trinidad and Tobago, have assured that Nigeria is ready to win medals at the event that ends on August 11.
Team Nigeria is a 25-man squad made up of 15 athletes and 10 officials.
According to Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Secretary-General, Tunde Popoola, the country will feature in athletics, cycling, swimming and para-athletics.
The athletes will compete in sprint, long-distance races, swimming, cycling and para-athletics.
According to Popoola, the athletes are eager to showcase their talents on an international stage and make their country proud.
He said that the Commonwealth Youth Games village is buzzing with energy as athletes from not less than 69 different nations, countries and territories are camped together, united by their passion for sports.
