The Additional Supplementary Appropriation Bill of one hundred and sixty-six billion, five hundred and eighty-six million, seven hundred and fourty-one thousand nine hundred and seventy five naira sent to the State Assembly for approval by governor Sheriff Oberevwori today scaled through 2nd and 3rd reading and passed at the floor of the House.
The Speaker also read two letters sent to the Assembly by the state
governor for the screening and confirmation of nominees into the governing board of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency and the governing board of the Warri/Uvwie and environs special area development agency
Leading debate in favour of the additional supplementary appropriation bill, the Majority Leader Honourable Emeka Nwaobi said the Supplementary Bill which now stands at forty- six billion, three hundred and eighty-six million seven hundred forty-one thousand, nine hundred and seventy five naira as additional recurrent expenditure and one hundred and twenty billion, two hundred million naira as capital expenditure was necessitated due to the increase in revenue space and to enable the state governor deliver on his promise of providing meaningful development, creating opportunity for all, through realistic reforms and enhancing peace and security.
Other lawmakers who spoke in favour included the Chief Whip Honourable Pekins Umukoro, member representing Patani constituency Honourable Emmanuel Sinebe, member representing Ndokwa West constituency Hon Charles Emetulu, and member representing lsoko constituency 2 Honourable Ferguson Onwo all agreed that the addition was apt as it would enable government complete on going projects across the state as well as initiate new ones.
The debate was unanimously adopted
Honourable Guwor also read letters sent to House by the state governor one of which was the constitution of the governing board of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency where Hon. Emmanuel Okoro would serve as chairman, Chief Patrick Ukah, Director General, Chekwube Hope, Ogaga Akpomedaye, and Endurance Ibru as Members, while
the other letter for the constitution of the governing board of the Warri/ Uvwie and environs special area development agency, had Dr. Joseph Otumara as Chairman, Honourable Prince Ejinyere as Director General, Isaac Itobi, Agbosa Stanley and Eunice Ibru as members.
The Speaker directed that the nominees submit 35 copies of their Curriculum Vitae to the office of the Clerk on or before Monday September 11 and appear for screening Tuesday September 12.
Also at plenary the Speaker announced names of members of various House standing committees.
