The commissioner of Youth Development, Delta State, Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi has assured citizens of government’s commitment to provide opportunities to them through the MORE agenda.
Comrade Weyinmi reiterated this during the inauguration of the Delta state steering committee of the National Youth Empowerment Action Plan, NYEAP, at the Professor Chike Edozien Secretariat, Asaba, the state capital.
Comrade Agbateyiniro said the inauguration of states NYEAP committee was important, as it was in line with the policies of the Federal ministry of Youth Development to facilitate youth employment and development in the state.
The commissioner said Delta is among the last few states to inaugurate the committee, adding that it is important to do so, to enjoy all benefits from the federal government and to actualize the focus of the program.
The committee was drawn up of members from different MDA’s in the federal and state level, including, the state ministry of youth Development, Ministry of Girl child and humanitarian services, office of the chief Job creation bureau, Ministry of agriculture and Natural resources and ministry of higher education.
Others were ministry of Finance, ministry of science and technology, Directorate of political and security services, ministry of trade and investment, the civil service commission, the national directorate of employment, the national youth council of Nigeria , delta state chambers of commerce, delta state chapter of Nigeria employers consultative association, and the manufacturers association of Nigeria.
Comrade Agbateniro enjoined all members of the committee to Avail themselves for the scheduled monthly meetings, come up with ground breaking ideas to see that more youths in the state were gainfully employed, to better their lives and shun all form of vices and evil in the state.
The permanent secretary in the Ministry, Mrs Ngozi Mogbolu said the NYEAP agenda is in tandem with the MORE agenda of Governor Oborevwori’s Administration
Mrs Mogbolu urged the heads of MDA’s in the committee to use their wealth of knowledge and expertise in their various fields to come up with ideas to bring about economic prosperity, peace and security.
Members of the committee thanked the Federal Government, the State Governor and the commissioner for youth development for the opportunity to serve.
