The corpse of a 300-level student of Biological Chemistry at the University of Port Harcourt, Justina Otuene Nkang, has been found in her boyfriend’s apartment.
The tragic incident occurred along the NTA Road, Mgbuoba in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria
Justina, who was reportedly undergoing her industrial training in a private hospital in the D/Line area of Port Harcourt, was declared missing for about four days, before her corpse was discovered.
She is believed to have visited her boyfriend in his apartment after the close of work and went incommunicado.
Her boyfriend, a supposed content creator, from Mbano, in Imo state, is a 400 level student of Oil and Gas in the same institution.
He allegedly tried to dispose of her dismembered body, which was already decomposing, when he was accosted by the estate security, at the Radio Estate where he resides.
Following the alarm raised by the estate security guard, people stormed the apartment of the suspect and found Justina’s body parts in a sack dripping with blood.
Reports say the suspect in now in police custody while the body parts had been taken to a morgue.
Late Otuene from Agana Andoni, local government area of Rivers state only celebrated her birthday on October 14.
Meanwhile, The Dean of Students Affairs at UniPort, Chima Wokocha, in an interview shortly after he and the Vice Chancellor of UniPort, Professor Georgewill Owunari, paid a visit to the police station where the collins was being held, confirmed the suspect involved in the killing of Justina Otuene-Nkang, is also a student of the university.
Professor Wokocha named the suspect as Okoligwe Damian Chimeme of the Department of Petroleum Engineering. He said the university is embarrassed and will not rest until justice is done.
A Facebook user who apparently knew the deceased wrote:
‘’So I woke up this morning by 2am , couldn’t sleep only for me to go online to see this sad news of otuene justina nkang we all schooled in assi.(Anglican secondary school isiokpo) a boarding house I was in shocked with tears in my eyes because I was also a friend to her brother back then otuene mbere the same class, that girl was so young then I still can’t believe this am just in shock That she was killed by her Yahoo boyfriend Rip Tina God should please help us and keep us safe.”
Another Facebook user wrote:
“To think that this beautiful girl, a human being created in the image of God, is the one stuffed in the wheelbarrow is so disheartening”.
