Fubara Approves Promotion, Minimun Wage to Local Government Workers.

…Receives Commendation From NULGE

Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Rivers state chapter has commended the Rivers Stare Government for approving the immediate promotion of all workers of local government in Rivers State.

A statement by the Rivers State president of NULGE, Comrade Clifford Paul said the approval was given by governor Siminalayi Fubara on Monday, during a closed door meeting they had with him at the banquet hall, Government House, Port Harcourt the Rivers state capital.

According to the statement, governor Fubara also addressed other concerns including the approval for the immediate implementation of a N30,000.00 (Thirty Thousand Naira) minimum wage for workers in the 23 local government councils, and the immediate implementation of the N35,000.00 (Thirty-Five Thousand Naira) wage award approved by the Federal Government to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy.

The statement noted that the Government also gave approval for NULGE to be included as a member of the Local Government Pensions Board, as provided by law, as well as the implementation of a consolidated salary structure for Local Government workers retiring at grade level 17.

“While pledging the loyalty, cooperation, solidarity and support of all local government workers of Rivers State, it is our prayer that the good Lord continue to bless you and bestow you with the wisdom and wherewithal to steer the affairs of Rivers State to greater heights” the statement added.
