The state Government has begun steps to address the recurring issue of admission process into the State colleges of nursing and midwifery in the state.
The chairman of the Delta State House of Assembly committee on Health, Honourable Ferguson Onwo, led his committee in a meeting with the Ministry of Health led by the Health commissioner, Dr Joseph Onojeme.
Honourable Onwo described the situation as worrisome, and questioned the processes involved in the admissions.
He reiterated the State government’s s interest in the education
A member of the Committee and member representing Warri south 1 Honourable Austine Uroye, expressed displeasure at a situation were forms were sold above the required bench mark.
He said the situation needed to be addressed as soon as possible.
The commissioner for Health Dr Joseph Onojeme in his response, attributed the cause to indexing for the 5 colleges of education.
The meeting later went into a closed door session, after which the committee directed the Director of midwifery to, in a week’s time, furnish the committee with the number of intakes into the states colleges of Nursing this year.
