
The need to intensify advocacy Against Domestic Violence and Abandonment of Women by Men in Delta State, has been emphasized.
The Managing Director, Working Fingers Int’l Initiative & State Chairperson of the Association Against Child Sexual and Gender Based Violence, Amb. Eris Jewo-Ibi stated this when she led members of the group in an advocacy visit to the State Ministry of Justice, Asaba, on August 2, 2023.

Amb Jewo-Ibi, briefed the Permanent Secretary and Acting Attorney-General, Delta State, Omamuzo Erebe Esq. on the just concluded 4th National Sexual and Gender Based Violence which held in Benin from 25th – 29th July, 2023, with the theme Accelerating Technology and Inclusion: The role of State and None State Actors..
The Chairperson eulogized the Delta State Government for playing an active role towards zero tolerance for domestic, Sexual and all other forms and Gender Based Violence.
She later presented the Global Peace Ambassador Award to the Functioning Attorney General in recognition of his contributions and support against violence.
Receiving the award, Mr Erebe dedicated the Award of recognition to the Ministry of Justice in combating Sexual, Domestic and Gender Based Violence, to a Director in the ministry who had remained relentless in handling cases of Gender based violence, Uche Akamaguna, a barrister.
He lauded her passion and commitment to the zero tolerance fight for gender based Violence efforts of the Ministry .
Mr. Ereb said all staff of the state Ministry of Justice were committed to ensuring a peaceful home and society.
He called on residents of the state to report suspected cases of Domestic Sexual and other forms of Gender Based Violence to the Ministry, as that would go a long way to reduce the menace in the society.
Representatives of different Civil Society Groups who were part of the Advocacy Visit included, Working Fingers Int’l Initiative, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Delta State Chapter, Fidelia Oyemiike Foundation, National Youth Council NYC, Delta State Chapter, Shecoops Empowerment Initiative and Action in Distress Foundation.
