The Executive Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government, Hon Innocent Esewezie has officially flagged off the 9 days free medical outreach in Akwukwu-igbo Delta State in a bid to provide health-care palliative to the people especially the indigent people of the area.
The free medical outreach which started yesterday is being organised by the Hon Innocent Esewezie led administration in collaboration with the Cedio Rural Outreach Ministry, a humanitarian group known for performing major surgeries on ailments including hernia, lipoma, fibroid.
The chairman of Local Health Authority Board, Dr. Mrs Ruth Nkeaka thanked the Council Chairman for putting up such elaborate health programme, noting that the 9 days free medical outreach was the 3rd of such programme Hon Esewezie was embarking on, “which is an indication of his passion for service delivery.”
The Founder of Cedio Rural Outreach Ministry lauded Hon Esewezie for having the courage to indulge in such venture despite the costs involved, adding that being in the medical field for several decades, she perfectly understands how impactful such health programme can be.
Hon Esewezie thanked the doctors and health workers for putting their best, and encouraged the people present to listen diligently to their doctors and follow their advice and instructions to the letter.
He took a tour round all the units to witness some of the treatments and operations being carried out by the professionals, and expressed amazement at the level of work done, even as he discovered that a fibroid measuring over 1 foot and weighing about 8kg was removed from a women who has carried it for over 10 years.
The Council Chairman gave words of advice and encouragement to the patients including children as he reassured them of the Council’s intention to bear the cost considering how tough times are for most people in the country currently.
The free medical treatment will continue till Monday before moving to Ibusa for the second part of the programme.
