
The immediate past chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Delta State Council, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu has been appointed a national Ex Officio by the National body of the union
This is contained in a statement signed by the NUJ National Secretary, Shuaibu Usman Leman.
“We write to extend the highest consideration of the Union and my warme personal regards and to convey to you your appointment by the Union as Officio Member” the statement said.
According to the statement, the appointment which is in line with Article 5.C (9) of the NUJ
constitution takes immediate effect.

“While congratulating you, you will accept the re-assurance of the highest esteem please” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Sapele Correspondents’ Chapel congratulates the immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Delta State Council, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, over his recent appointment by the National body of the union as Ex Officio.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Nelson Agbajor and Secretary, Comrade Daniel Umukoro
According to the statement, the development did not come to the chapel as a surprise, as Comrade Ikeogwu had served the union at the state level meritoriously and successfully handed over to a new leadership.
It described Comrade Ikeogwu, as a leader of no mean repute and an example of humility, as seen over the years throughout his tenure as Delta NUJ Chairman, saying that he has demonstrated unalloyed support and total commitment to the union at all levels.
While applauding the appointment, they prayed the appointment will be the beginning of more wins and great news at the national level away from the state community of NUJ.
“This appointment can be likened to a case of more work for a great work as Chairman” the statement added.
The chapel expressed confidence in Comrade Ikeogwu’s ability to replicate his legacies at the state level and to keep the flag of Delta State NUJ flying high.
The chapel wished him success as he takes on this new office and prayed for God’s guidance as he meander through the national corridors of power of the NUJ.
