ONGOING PROJECTS: Delta EXCO Approves Upward Review of Cost

The Delta State Executive Council has approved an upward review of cost of some ongoing projects due to the current high prices of construction materials.

The State Executive Council SEC gave the approval during its meeting presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at Government House, Asaba.

Briefing the media on the outcome of the meeting, the state Commissioner for Information, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza said due to change in scope and additional works, the State Executive Council approved the construction of drainage channels from Owa -Alero to Owa Alizomor through Owa-Ofien to the Iyiama stream.

Also approved were the Upward review of the construction cost for the completion of dualization work on the Ogwashi-Uku to Asaba road and the completion of the Section C one from Osissa to Kwale junction, Ogwashi-uku .

Dr. Osuoza stated that the Upward review of the contract cost for the balance and additional works to complete the dualization of the Ughelli/Asaba road project sector A with spur to Oleh were approved.

The construction of roads in Effurun and Ekpan in Uvwie local Government area as well as an upward review for the construction of stadium road, Ogborodo in Warri south West local Government area were approved.

Other approvals according to the Commissioner were an upward review of the construction of the Jeremiah Eboh street/Nwawolo road /Frank Nkem Okolo drive/Sir Obiosa Obidigwe street and a discharge drain to Ngozi Ebiora street in Okpanam, Oshimili North phase two 

The State Commissioner for Works, Highways and Urban Roads, Comrade Reuben Izeze said the state Government had secured over six Billion Naira from the contractors handling the Ughelli /Asaba dualization project, due to its bargaining power.

He said the present Administration would not compromise standards in order to ensure that Deltans got value for their money in project execution.

Also at the briefing, the Commissioner for Information, Dr Osuoza said the appointments of Obi Charles Ikechukwu Abiagom as the Obi of Ubulubu in Aniocha North, Elder John Arimoro Alika Ibiri as Okpala- Uku of Idumu Esah in Ika North East and Edward Isama Ofoezuem as Okpala- Uku of Obikwelle in Ndokwa East local Government Area were approved.
