The Stakeholders and Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Ika South has finally agreed to toe the line of peace and unity for the good of the Party in the Local Government Area.
The Stakeholders took this decision during an laemrge meeting convened by the members of the PDP Reconciliation Committee led by Pa John Nwagimejen.
In attendance at the important stakeholders meeting were Pa John Nwagimejen, Comr Amechi Igumbor, Hon Collins Bello, Evang Sunny Tatabuzorgwu, members of PDP LGA Executive Committee, PDP Ward Chairmen, Engr Jerry Ehiwario, Dr Donald Peterson, Engr Noel Omodon, Sam Igumbor, Col Godwin Eboma Rtd, Hon Sunny Ogwu, Chief Isioma Okonta, Hon Festus Izoje, Tony Egun, Engr Andrew Obiazi, Godwin Ezedom, Williams Eghebi, Mrs Patience Agborma, Hon Mrs Caroline Agbi, Mrs Cecilia Ogbonyeri, Kainji Aluge-Obia, Government appointtees, all serving Councilors, Council Chairmanship hopefuls, Party leaders, other stakeholders and chieftains.
Pa John Nwagimejen, in his address, thanked all in attendance for coming.
Pa Nwagimeje began by critically emphasizing the history of political development in Ika South LGA.
He hinted on the need for Peace, Love and Unity in the Party and in the Local Government Area stressing that once there is peace in the Party, there will be commensurate peace in the whole local government area since our Party is the dominant and ruling Party from the beginning of the democratic era till today.
The PDP Chieftain emphasized that it is the intention of the LGA Reconciliation Committee to have this particular meeting as the last one as all members of the Party in the LGA are from henceforth expected to be working and fellowshiping together so that our Party can continue to work together and dominate the political space in the Ika South State Constituency.
He noted that after this meeting, plans will be put in place for a visitation to all political groups and Wards in the LGA which will be followed by the Party general meeting at the Party Secretariat.
Pa Nwagimeje also communicated the permission taken by the member representing Ika South at DTHA, Hon Festus Chukwuyem Okoh, Chief Philip Igumbor and Hon Cordelia Ayangwu,explaining that the three persons are unavoidably absent.
The Chairman of the Party in the LGA, Comr Amechi Igumbor, in his speech, thanked the persons who attended the meeting, reminding the Ward Chairmen of the Party of the need to go back to their various Wards and bring every body back to the Party as one family.
He thanked the elders and the members of the Reconciliation Committee for the effort in bringing everybody together for the overall good of the Party in the LGA.
Evang Sunny Tatabuzorgwu, the Chairman of Ika South Local Government Council expressed his joy and happiness with the move to entrench peace, unity and love in Ika South.
He appealed to all to critically examine the current issue in the local government area which has to do with the consumption of illicit drug and other forms of narcotics by youths, men and women.
According to him, “It is greatly embarrassing and is now leading to illegal and criminal activities”.
The Council Chairman decried the current happenings in the local government area which has to do with the attack on school teachers by some members of the public, and called for all hands have to be on deck to curb the disturbing matter.
The Commissioner for Power and Energy in Delta State. Engr Jerry Ehiwario who corroborated the point in his speech, thanked all for coming and advocated that the name of the venue of the meeting as “Peace House for Ika South” judging by the remarkable milestone being achieved through the several meetings held here.
He called for peace in the Party and thanked Sen Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for the positive revolution in politics in Delta State for which everyone is enjoying today. He urged the Party Leaders to expedite action in the planned visitation to enable the party activities return to the Secretariat as it should be.
Other speakers at the meeting include Comr Monday Akpolo, Mrs Cecilia Ogbonyeri and Lawrence Onahor all centering on the need for peace, mutual understanding, love and unity in the Party.
