The weather service in South Africa has issued a Level 5 warning for severe thunderstorms in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
The report says at least 15 municipalities are expected to be impacted.
Cooperative Governance is warning of lightning, localised flooding and infrastructure damage.
It’s activated all disaster management teams in the municipalities concerned.
Residents in low-lying areas have been advised to move to safer spaces and stay indoors, while people were also reminded not to take shelter under trees, telephone poles and power lines.
The report urged Motorists not to travel until the severe weather passes.
Meanwhile, snowy weather has been reported in areas along the N3, including Mooi River and Howick.
The Weather Service had issued a Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms over the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape, Free State, North West and Northern Cape.
According to the warning, Isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers will be felt over the central parts of the country.
Showers are also expected over the south-western parts of the country as the cold front passes through.
