A state-of-the-art medical facility dedicated to fostering comprehensive health and wellness, – Renewed Mind Medical and Diagnostic Centre, Asaba has been commissioned in Delta State.
The 50 bed centre is equipped for services including, CT scan, Endoscopy, Oncology, radiology, Paediatrics, maternity, Digital X-ray, Dialysis, surgery, Laboratory tests, Ambulance and Pharmacy services, intensive care, and round the clock consultation services.
The Special Guest of honour and State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme after touring the facility, said health is important in the MORE agenda of the Oborevwori administration, adding that the state government would partner with the Centre to ensure the facility is used for the good of Deltans.
Sir Onyeme commended the proprietors of the Centre, Mrs. Favour Chikelu-Usigbe and Mr. Chukwukelu Dubem for their vision and courage in establishing the centre, and their passion in providing quality health care services and urged them to key into the Delta State Contributory Health scheme, to enable more Deltans benefit from their services.
Performing the Commissioning ceremony, the state Head of Service Mr. Reginald Bayoko, said the MORE agenda has created an enabling environment that fosters prosperity for all Deltans, adding that Government has been a champion of health care development in the state, initiating and implementing various policies and programmes that have improved the quality and accessibility of health care for citizens.
Mr Bayoko who was Chairman on the occasion, said the centre is a one-stop shop for all health care needs, providing quality care at affordable prices, pointing out that it would create employment opportunities, generate revenue, promote research and innovation, and enhance the reputation and image of Delta state.
He urged the people to patronize the centre and spread the word about its services and benefits”.
The Director General, Delta State capital territory Development Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah, the state Commissioner for Health Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, who was represented, the Asagba of Asaba, Professor Chike Edozien represented by Professor Leroy Edozien, and Mrs Jo Cato who came in from the United States and others in their remarks, said any investment in health care is an investment in human capital, which is the most valuable asset of any nation, saying that the centre will inspire other private investors to invest in the state economy.
They urged the proprietors of the center to ensure adequate availability of manpower to handle the sophisticated equipments, and proper hospital waste management, as well as to maintain world class standards of hygiene and patients safety.
In her remarks, Mrs. Favour Chikelu-Usigbe said the center was named Renewed mind because of the belief that every change began with a new awakening that birthed a renewal of the mind, disclosing that her brother caught the vision of the project, after the death of their father, and they had to sell off private properties to establish it, because of their belief that the greatest gift to legacy in life is selfless service to humanity,
The Centre is an affiliate of a nine year old existing centre in the United States, adding that the facility is patnering with some other medical facilities in the United States to actualize their goal of providing quality mental and behavioural health services, primary care, diagnostic abulatory care.
“We are not rich but we want to share what we have with our community and we hope we can get the support of well meaning organizations, governments parastatals and individuals to help keep this facility running by donating to our foundation so we can offer medical services to anyone who comes in here” she stated.
The event which featured cultural display and sensitization drama, was attended by a roll call of dignitaries, including the Secretary to the state Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, Deputy Chief of staff, Government House, Mr Ifeanyi Osakwe, members of the state executive council and their representatives, the Director General, Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta permanent secretaries and Directors from various ministries, Departments and agencies, Professionals in the various fields of medicine, as well as the Managing Director, Lafenax Nigeria limited, Mr Lawrence Onyemelukwe.
