International athletes from Gambia and Benin Republic have arrived in Asaba, the Delta State capital, ahead of the 2023 Warri Grand Prix.
This year’s occasion is being held in Asaba due to the Warri City Stadium being refurbished and also as a tribute to the former Secretary General of the Supreme Council for sports in Africa, SCSA, late Dr Awoture Eleyae who died last week.
The championship will afford Nigeria men’s 4×100 meters relay team another opportunity to secure their spot in the forthcoming world athletics meet in Budapest.
Team Nigeria could not qualify in previous three attempts in Ghana, Lagos and Cotounou, Benin Republic.
The race which will take place July 27, 2023 inside the Stephen Keshi Stadium,Asaba is a three in one event with three Countries competing in the 4x100m,4x400m and mixed relays/
