The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme has reiterated the commitment of the Oborevwori administration to strengthen the bonds of unity and friendship with non indigenes resident in the state.
Sir Onyeme stated this when he received the leadership and members of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ukwuani Local Government Chapter led by the President, Sir Precious Ifeanyichukwu who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Government House, Asaba.
The Deputy Governor said the state government was ready to partner with the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ukwuani local government chapter to enhance the growth and development of the state.
He promised that the Oborevwori administration would not neglect the welfare of non-indigenes resident in the state, describing them as worthy partners .
Sir Onyeme acknowledged that their various business ventures were contributing to the growth of the state’s economy, assuring them that government would continue to integrate non indigenes in it’s programmes.
He intimated the delegation of the scholarship scheme for students in tertiary institutions, championed by the Monday Onyeme Foundation, noting that it is his contribution in supporting the educational pursuits of indigenes and non indigenes resident in Ndokwa land.
The President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ukwuani Local Government Chapter, Sir Precious Ifeanyichukwu said the visit was to congratulate Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his Deputy,Sir Monday Onyeme on their success at the poll and subsequent Inauguration.
He commended the Deputy Governor for his annual scholarship scheme to indigenes and non indigenes noting that some of their children have benefited.
While pledging the support of the group to the Oborevwori administration, the President advocated for the appointment of Igbos into government, employment of their children, recognition of their Igwe as a traditional ruler in the state and the building of their meeting hall in Obiaruku.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of an award to the Deputy Governor in recognition of his contributions to human capital development and empowerment, by Igwe Dominic Ezema, Onye Ndu.
The State PDP Secretary, Engr.Dan Osaai, Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Chris Osakwe, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo and the Special Assistant, Non Indigenes and Community Development, Mr Anthony Chukwu, were in attendance.
