The second edition of the Ward 4 Football Tournament tagged Esewezie Cup 2023 officially kicked off on Monday in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, with the defending champion Umuodogwu FC playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Ogbeatakpo FC.

Hon. Emmanuel Ilechie, the Host of the competition said that the exciting tournament was aimed at fostering community spirit and promoting physical fitness through the universal language of football by helping in strengthening local bonds and creating a sense of belonging in the ward.

Hon. Ilechie noted that the reason this year’s tournament is named after Hon Esewezie was because of the adequate leadership and development brought upon the people of ward 4 and Ndi-Oshimili North in general.

He had participated in the kickoff ceremony as the football competition began.

The tournament started last year .

The tournament is played amongst the Ogbes in Ward 4 and is open to all residents of any of the Ogbes – either indigene or non-indigene.
