Popular Nigerian dancer and content creator, Anita Chukwumfumnaya Obidi, popularly known as Korra Obidi, has appealed to the public to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of assailant who poured her acid and stabbed her with a knife during her live stream in London, United kingdom.
In a video post shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, the mother of two said the attacker was a five-foot-tall, black woman saying that the physical assault is a wake-up call, as she had been a target of hateful remarks in the past.
“If you have any information as to the attacker, black female. 5 foot. please forward to Korramanagement@gmail.com,” she appealed.
The energetic performer with a positive online presence stated that the attack happened in her London residence while she was engaging with fans in the middle of a live stream on Thursday, April 11, 2024, by unknown assailants.
In the viral video on social media, Korra was seen groaning in pain where she said her face was burning, and asked for coke to wash it.
She was later seen in the video washing her face with the Coca-Cola soft drink.
Two uniformed officers appeared in the video, with one of them applying a liquid solution on the dancer’s face saying it would help to reduce the pain, while the second officer sprayed her back to give first aid treatment.
In the caption accompanying the video, Obidi appealed to the public to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator of the act.
In the heat of the incident, Obidi demonstrated strength of character as she was prompt to inform her followers of the attack through her social media channels.
“I unfortunately was attacked in London at my residence while on a live stream today. With an acid and knife. Currently in care. I am grateful and recovering well. Thank you for the love ,” Obidi assured.
The incident has prompted an immediate response from local authorities in London, who have launched investigation into the attack. Given the attack’s timing and nature, investigators are meticulously combing through the live stream footage and examining nearby surveillance to identify the perpetrators and understand the motive behind such a heinous act.
The incident has left fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry, both in Nigeria and internationally, in shock, and many have rallied around her praying for a quick recovery and condemning the attack.
Obidi’s management team has also issued a statement, expressing their shock and denouncing the attack. “This is a deeply disturbing incident. Korra is not only an artist but a mother, daughter, and friend. We are working closely with the authorities to ensure the culprits are brought to justice. We are thankful for the outpouring of love and support from everyone.”
The news of the attack came just as Nigerians are still trying to wrap their heads around the death of a Nollywood actor popularly known as Jnr. Pope and some crew members who died in a boat mishap in the River Niger, in the process of shooting a scene for a movie.
