The Nigeria Customs Service, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command (KLTC), has generated a record-breaking sum of N53,429,615,615 in 2023.
The Command also processed 399 export containers of agro products and solid minerals.
In a press statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Tunde Ayagbalo, on Wednesday, 31st January 2024, the revenue generated represents a 19% increase compared to the N44.799 billion realized for the same period in 2022.
Under export, the Command transformed from a simple export transit hub to a
bustling processing centre after the arrival of its Export Processing
Terminal (EPT).
The statement reads, “Since implementing standardized export procedures, KLTC has seen the export of 399 containers of agro products and solid minerals in 2023, marking a significant shift in its operations.”
“Also, other key activities that positively impacted revenue drive for the period under review include processing and clearance of import and export shipments, conducting risk assessment analysis, engaging critical stakeholders, collaborating with sister agencies to enhance security, proper physical examination of containers, improving workplace environment and maintaining proper sanitation.”
In the same vein, the Command made a seizure of a 1 x 40ft container of
expired drugs and supplements, with a duty-paid value of N7,843,957.00.
The Customs Area Controller in charge of the Command, Comptroller Martina Tilley-Gyado, affirmed that, though not operating at full capacity, the Command is dedicated to delivering on its 2024 target of N87.5 billion.
She expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR and the entire management team of the service for being instrumental in achieving the feats while also assuring of the commitment of Officers and Men of KLTC to continuously improving on the Commands mandate.
